SVEYA FIELD HOCKEY FAQs
Who can participate? ALL children who will be in grades K‐6 during the 2024-2025 school year are welcome to participate.
What is the cost? Registration fees are $50 for the first player in a family, ask about the family discount. Registration fees are due by the first practice. Check, cash or card will be accepted.
What equipment does my child need? You are responsible for providing shin guards, a formed mouth guard and sneakers/running shoes for your child. If desired your child can wear cleats. The program will provide sticks to borrow during the season. If you are interested in purchasing a stick and/or ball for your child talk to your child's coach and they can help direct you on how to purchase one.
When does the season start & when are practices? Practices begin 3rd week of August, and the season will end the 3rd or 4th week of October. Practices are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. Practices on weekdays are from 5:30-7:00 p.m and usually 9:00 - 10:30 am on Saturdays. Parents/Guardians must be present for practices and games or designate another adult who will be present and responsible for their child/children during practices and games.
When are games? Games are held on Saturday mornings and are tournament style, playing multiple teams and multiple twenty minuet games throughout the day. The farthest we typically travel for tournaments is Whitney Point. The tournament schedule is expected to begin on the 2nd weekend in September. Once tournaments begin, they will replace practices on Saturday mornings.
What can my child do to prepare for the season? Field hockey is a very active sport with lots of running. Encourage your child to be active throughout the summer with focus on building some endurance to be able to run for longer periods of time. 5th and 6th grade players will be required to run as conditioning to build endurance as part of their practices.
We are looking forward to a great season!!
